Reunion of The Doctors...

"We're the Skyy Blue frat, we're the best and all that, we're the best docs anywhere! For all ye doctors be forgot, keep your heart on Skyy Blue!" (sung to the tune of "Your A Grand Ole Flag")

Who: Dr. Watson - Holmes, Dr. Bacon, Dr. Foote
When: Summer of 2000
Where: Orientation at Delta State University

Some people often ask, What inspired you to become a Doctor? I often respond, I'm not really a Doctor, I just play one in real life.

No, we aren't doctors... yet. These are nicknames that, as music majors, we gave each other. Basically, we thought it would be funny to tell people we were pre-med majors (in my case, podiatry) - considering our last names. It was only fit that we would become great friends for years to come. The three of us, with separate sororities and activities, had a few things in common: The Music Department,  a love of Food and Laughter.

When you have the Music Department in common, you basically spend about 120 hours a week together - which is more than sorority sisters spend together. Needless to say, we saw a lot of each other between rehearsals, study groups, traveling and performances. Our love for music and our desire to pursue music as a career brought us together. Later two of us would find that pursuing a career in music wasn't all we wanted to do while Dr. Watson - Holmes went on to obtain her masters in music. Dr. Bacon and I pursued Speech Therapy with a minor in Music. It's very interesting what a musical background adds to Speech Therapy and how much the two have in common... but I digress. Music keeps us bonded to this day.

A love for Food brought us together because we had a great love for The Guad, Airport Grocery and A La Carte. Not only did we frequent restaurants together, but in our latter years of college, we began cooking together. We had some great times setting off fire alarms and climbing on furniture to remove the battery so that we could finish cooking. A few of our specialties were Chicken & Dumplings, Chicken seasoned with Tony's, Rice, Beef Bouillon Green Beans, Creamed Corn; Five-Cheese Lasagna, and Dr. Watson's Spaghetti. We would rotate houses and have lots of friends in and out.

I love how laughter can bring people together. These girls have such a great sense of humor and we each appreciate the others sense of humor. (mine especially being a little off at times!) Most of my memories with the Doctors end in uncontrollable laughter. Playing Cards (watching Dr. Bacon's eyes on High/Low) and Taking the shots of Walk Me Downs and Skyy Blue - with straws (we wouldn't dare take a shot of something straight, after all, we weren't "straight-laced" girls. Making sure that our purses had "feet" so that they would sit nice and tall next to our desks. Getting into bar fights and bruising our mastoid process. (remember.... not straight-laced) Hanging out with George Bush at the White House on North Leflore. Okay, here's the story. Dr. Bacon and Dr. Foote went out to dance. Dr. Bacon's boyfriend drove us home. As we were approaching my door (to my house that was white), I leaned into a bush by the front door and said, "OH, Hi George!!!" get it? George Bush, at the White House. So - there is your sense of humor and great friends who appreciate a good joke every now and then (even if I was inebriated) These were just a few of the stories that we can visit and laugh about. Stories that never get old. Stories, that will be in our memories for years to come!

The Doctors reunited this past July of 2010, now 3 states apart from each other. Exactly 10 years from when we first met. We made new memories and those stories will never get old and will forever be with each of us.

I am attaching a few pictures from our recent gathering!

Post Surgery Update- 2 weeks

Hello!!! I have wanted to update the blog, but I haven't had the energy. It's been much easier to let Kelly send updates via e-mail and for me to make quick updates on Facebook, and then sleep for 3 or 4 hours. For those who aren't up to date, click here , for an overview of how this all began. For those of you who know how it all began, click here , for an update on why I had the surgery a second time. I recommend reading these 2 post before reading anymore, or else you might be a bit confused!!! A s f o r t h e s u r g e r y , i t w e n t w e l l . A Week of Injections... and Frustrations

My IVF nurse called Monday to let me know that I needed to start my Lupron injection. So I had the joy of giving myself my very first injection. It wasn't bad at all. I didn't even feel the needle. I was so nervous, I watched multiple videos, read blogs and so did Kelly - as he is "the back up plan" - if for some reason I couldn't do it. Well... there we were standing in the kitchen with everything sterilized and ready. I grabbed the fat on my thigh and Kelly says, "Oh! My Dad and the boys are here" (they were bringing me banana pudding) so I said, "it's now or never" and I did it without flinching! I was so excited to have done that and it be no big deal... until about 20 minutes later when I began to vomit. So began a pretty long night. I already had a lot of pain from the surgery and then vomiting did not make it any more comfortable. I wasn't able to eat anything but crackers for dinner (not a bad thing for my diet!) The rest of ...

2008 Chickfila Bowl

It was the best of times.... It was the worst of times.... LSU did not have particularly have the best of seasons ( the worst of times ), but we had the opportunity to watch LSU play in the Chickfila Bowl ( best of times ). It was a good game. The End. Oh yeah, here are some pics from the best of times :) enjoy. Other than the Chickfila Bowl, we were able to enjoy staying in Buckhead, which is a great area to visit. There was a Container Store right by our hotel, which made me VERY happy. We also went to the Jim Henson and Olympic Exhibits at The Atlanta History Center as well as the World of Coca Cola in downtown Atlanta. We enjoyed some great food at The Rock Bottom Brewery and The Cheesecake Factory. On New Year's Day, we headed to visit Ben and Kristie Hogue's "practice" bed and breakfast in Rome, GA. (history note: Rome, GA is named Rome because the town is surrounded by 7 hills just like Rome, Italy). We had a wonderful time catching up, reminiscing, and playing...
