Surgery, August 11

So God is working everything out. Dr. Parent called and he will do the surgery on August 11. I will be admitted the morning of August 10. I expect to be in the hospital around 4 days. I have had lots of questions on "why not do the surgery in July?" I'd like to just write about why I'm waiting. They only had a few days available for surgery in July, (surgery is only done on Tuesdays). I have committed to keep my precious neice and nephew for the month of July. I committed to this months ago and YES my sister would find someone to keep them if she needed to, but WE also need time to prepare, emotionally, physically and financially for this surgery. I will be able to make some more money to place in savings in the month of July so that Kelly will be able to help me. I have committed to working with my private client and I have also committed to helping at VBS and Hope Hollow. These are all things, that I feel God has given me to do. If Dr. Parent felt like it needed to ...

Thanks for your prayers...

This is what it's about... God has given us the means to communicate to so many just through blogging. What a wonderful way to communicate the needs others currently have. Some may find this impersonal, but there are only so many hours in a day to relay information and I feel that the information can best be relayed by talking to the person that is going through the situation. A lot of times information gets misconstrued when you go by hear-say. So let's "hear" what Amy has to "say". :) I want to thank everyone who is praying for me. I really do feel a sense of "calm" over me. I know that God has total control of my situation. I believe that He is working on my relationship with Him always. I fully believe that God is using these earthly physicians to do His work, as He is the one, Great Physician. I have seen Him work on me before, and now He's back for more. (sorry I had to make the rhyme) The emotions I have been going through are pretty int...

Update on Debbie Downer

Well I feel like Debbie Downer. I'd like to be Betty Be-Bopper....  I had my MRI this morning and follow-up.  The MRI showed about a 25% growth in 4 years. When the first surgery was done, they left some fat inside the spine. It is growing and beginning to re-tether to my spine. That is what is causing all of my issues. The tumor is pressing on my nerves again and that is what is causing the leg and back spasms.  Since my issues are new (about 3 months) we will keep watching. I will have a urodynamic test done to test the strength and function level of my bladder. The reason for this, is because the surgery I would have uses a high temp laser (that's amy terms) to melt the fat. That can cause my bladder to become even weaker. So Dr. Parent will take those results and weigh the risks against each other. (surgery or no surgery).  He said that the fat is there, so losing weight, exercising, physical or occupational therapy isn't going to stop any of what I have going on. :( So...

Baby got Back...

It all began in my first month in my mother's womb in 1982. MRI's were not around so when I was born and they saw a perfectly healthy little baby with a fatty mass on her lower back, they X-rayed it. They found that I had a butterfly vertebrae at T10 and blocked vertebrae at T11. T10 is fused with T9 and T11. Dr. McCraney said that the fatty mass was just "baby fat" and my body would grow into it. They followed me for a few years. I was a very hyperactive child who just flipped and flopped all over the place, so there was no reason to think anything more could be there....  Fast forward through many years of Gymnastics, Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Swimming, and Life guarding. The "bump" or "as I called it to make light of my big booty was "5th cheek" continued to grow with me. June 2001, age:18. I had just finished my freshman year at Delta State. A very active year at that. I was home working as a lifeguard at the courthouse for the summ...
